It is our belief that museums owe it to the previous generations to portray history honestly and accurately. People have always been just that, people, they built fun things they couldn’t afford, students doodled on their desks, kids drew in their schoolbooks, and life wasn’t on a pedestal. Our goal is to show the honest history of the area, farm equipment, typewriters, sewing machines, businesses and stores all from the Mon-Dak region.

Our museum was named the Lewis and Clark Trail Museum in 1969 when we first opened. It was named after the highway that went through here, known as the Lewis and Clark Trail highway, it loosely follows the trail Merriwether Lewis and William Clark took on their famed expedition. Their discoveries paved the way for this region to be settled many years later in 1912. Our museum has a room dedicated to their expedition, but the rest of our museum shows the results, and tells the untold stories that came after.
